Machine Embroidery Design: Fantasy Flowers

A refined plant-and-floral ornament, executed in the style of traditional Ukrainian machine embroidery in satin stitch with elements imitating lace-like filling.
The composition has a clear symmetry and a balanced arch-shaped (or V-shaped) form, which is perfectly suited for decorating the neckline, yoke, sleeve hems or the hem of an embroidered shirt or dress.

The ornament is rendered in classic noble cool tones. A harmonious combination of several shades is used.

Key design elements

• Central and upper flowers: In the upper part there are three stylized flowers resembling edelweiss. The central lower element is directed downward, completing the triangular shape of the motif.

  Abundance of foliage: The pattern is richly filled with sprigs of sharp leaves of various sizes, executed in satin stitch. On the sides, large, smoothly curved pinnate leaves symmetrically spread out, giving the entire ornament a sense of movement.

• Lace texture (mesh): A distinctive feature of this design is the internal filling of the large petals and leaves with a fine net. This creates an effect of lightness and weightlessness and evokes traditional cutwork or lace techniques.

  The design looks very noble, modern and at the same time deeply traditional. Thanks to the blue and light-blue palette it is associated with purity, fidelity and calm. Such an ornament will look perfect both on white or cream linen and on fabric in dark-blue or gray tones. You can choose the palette at your discretion and give the composition different accents.
