Ukrainian "embroidery". Colorful fashion

Ukrainian "embroidery". Colorful fashion

For several years now, the fashion for clothes embroidered with Ukrainian embroidery has become popular. Ukrainians are not ashamed of their tradition and the folk costumes derived from it, which they willingly wear. Every year, on the third Thursday of May, Ukrainians all over the world celebrate Vyshyvanka Day. On this day, they wear vyshyvankas with traditional embroidered folk patterns and wear them to school, university, work, shopping, an afternoon walk, a concert or an evening date.

Vysyvanka Day is a new holiday that was recently born in Ukraine as a result of a grassroots initiative. It is not an official national holiday or a day off, but nevertheless the event is celebrated very solemnly. This quickly became an important element in building the national identity of Ukrainians.

FASHION FOR EMBROIDERY

"Embroidery" is often given to relatives. For this reason, as a rule, every Ukrainian has several of them. You can also buy embroidered clothes on sale according to your tastes and preferences. Nowadays, such importance is no longer attached to following the rules of embroidery patterns, and many modern "embroideries" are free fashion adaptations of old patterns for the modern wardrobe.

The most popular "embroidered shirts" are white shirts embroidered with red or red-black patterns. However, there are no strict rules. Everyone wears their favorite clothes. An embroidered blouse does not necessarily have to be white. It can also be black with red or other colored embroidery. Women's vyshyvanka can be yellow, red or blue with Ukrainian patterns.

Ukrainians love to wear embroidered blouses not only on Vyshyvanka Day, but also every day, which you can learn about while in Ukraine. It is surprising how easily Ukrainians made "embroidery" not only an element of building their national identity, but also a way of promoting their country abroad.

A real fashion show was presented by ladies dressed not only in embroidered blouses and shirts, but also embroidered capes, coats, jackets and skirts. They had dressed clerks, bartenders, saleswomen in stores and bazaars, and even twenty-year-old girls who worked at supermarket checkouts. Many people wore embroidered accessories to their regular clothes, such as scarves, handkerchiefs, handbags, or even just embroidered belts.

UKRAINIAN EMBROIDERY

Ukrainian embroidery has a rich history and comes from folk art. Ukrainian embroidery decorates not only the wardrobe, but also table elements (tablecloths, napkins), bed linen, bedspreads, as well as carpets and other decorative elements of home decor.
